Comment parler de cet homme qui fut avocat, libre-penseur, militant politique du POB au PC, partisan de l'autonomie culturelle et politique de la Wallonie, créateur de revues, créateur de groupes d’artistes, écrivain et poète, organisateur d'expositions, défenseur de l'Espagne républicaine en combattant sur le front d’Albacete, résistant, anticlérical et anticonformiste, marxiste et surréaliste actif, président des Amitiés belgo-soviétiques de La Louvière, mort dans l'indifférence générale, pratiquement oublié, dont la mémoire est entretenue par quelques amis, quelques lecteurs enthousiastes et fidèles ? Oui, comment en parler ? En faisant, surtout, entendre sa voix. Ses mots. Rappeler aussi que s’il a écrit : "Je suis le vieux peau-rouge qui ne marchera jamais dans une file indienne", il a aussi dit : "Il ne faut pas toujours tourner la page, il faut parfois la déchirer" et défendre, avec force, que Chavée c’est bien plus riche et bien plus compliqué que "ça". En sortira, sans aucun doute, avec l’aide de deux musiciens : Antoine Cirri et Michel Mainil, une sorte de portrait d’homme s’écartant de la vérité dite scientifique mais s’approchant, peut-être, avec une justesse sensible du personnage littéraire et romanesque qu’il était. L'argument de départ ? Nous sommes en mai 1968. Chavée, au bistrot, se réjouit des événements qui lui en rappellent d'autres, inoubliables, de son existence. Puis vient l'année 1969 où l'annonce de la maladie de Parkinson qui frappe Franco l'amène à se remémorer la guerre d'Espagne et à se questionner sur la justesse de ses choix politiques. Jusqu'au bout, il pensera fêter la mort du dictateur mais c'est lui que le cancer du poumon vaincra le 12 décembre 1969. Plus que poète, il a été voyant comme le clamait Rimbaud. Voilà pour l'esprit. Reste à créer, à construire et à répéter la forme. En effet, si les personnalités d’André Breton ou René Magritte ont engendré la renommée internationale du surréalisme, de nombreux événements qui ont contribué à la vivacité du mouvement sont restés dans l'ombre. Ainsi en est-il des premières expositions internationales surréalistes à Ténérife en mai 1935 ou à La Louvière en octobre de la même année. 50 ans déjà que le poète Achille Chavée est mort, ce qui nous offre l'occasion d'évoquer un de ses hauts faits et gestes : sa contribution à la mise en place de l'exposition surréaliste de 1935 à La Louvière. C'est Patricia Pareja Rios qui nous présente une conférence inédite consacrée aux similitudes des surréalismes canariens et louviérois par le biais, notamment, des deux expositions de 1935, sans oublier la légende entourant les bobines du film l’Âge d’or de Luis Buñuel qu’André Breton et Benjamin Péret ont présenté sur les Îles Canaries en 1936. Notre conférencière évoquera l'émergence des deux groupes surréalistes, l'un aux Canaries autour de la revue Gaceta de Arte, l'autre à La Louvière autour d'Achille Chavée. Elle révélera les similitudes entre ces deux groupes atypiques ayant engendré chacun un événement aussi exceptionnel qu'ignoré des histoires du mouvement : une exposition internationale d'artistes se réclamant des idées d’André Breton. Licenciée en Lettres Modernes à l’Université Centrale de Barcelone et à l’Université Paul Valéry de Montpellier, Patricia Pareja Rios a défendu sa thèse de doctorat à l’Université de la Laguna (Ténérife) : le corps dans le surréalisme parisien et canarien. Maître de conférences, elle a organisé plusieurs colloques et dirigé de nombreuses publications sur le sujet. Voici quelques lignes pour vous mettre l’eau à l’oreille : Poète, chantre du pinceau, Lionel Vinche nous plonge sans avertissement dans un monde dont on ne sort pas indemne. Nous y découvrons les tableaux ponctués de saynètes, histoires multiples nées de l’observation du quotidien, tels des pages de bandes dessinées mais qui n’obligent pas l’oeil à la linéarité. Notre sens de la vue est en alerte. Malgré l’alignement des images, il est autorisé à prendre la clé des champs. Notre regard prend le chemin des écoliers. Il ressemble à un moineau, dans le « jardin » du peintre, qui va de gauche, de droite, s’en revient, s’en repart, volette, prend son envol pour se poser un peu plus loin. Rien n’est figé, obligé. Les chemins se font, se défont. Se tisse alors, à notre insu, un réseau entrecroisé, tendu de part en part du tableau. Tension savourée goutte à goutte. Dans chaque « case » évolue tout un petit peuple où se croisent homme, femme, sirène, oiseau, bateau palmier,... objets quotidiens baignés dans leur milieu de vie : mer, plage, jardin, rue, ville, village,... Une mythologie toute personnelle qui habite le peintre autodidacte. (…) Né à Antoing en 1936, Lionel Vinche commence à peindre en 1961 et expose depuis 1963. Lionel Vinche a présenté son travail dans de grands musées et nombreuses galeries belges (…) également hors de nos frontières. Elles font partie de nombreuses collections privées et publiques (Communauté Française, Province de Hainaut,...). Récemment une rétrospective des dix dernières années lui a été consacrée à la Maison de la Culture de Namur et il a participé à l'exposition « Escargots à gogo » au Daily Bul. Outre sa peinture, il réalisa des fresques murales, des décors pour le théâtre, il s’adonna aussi à la gravure. Sensible à la poésie, il l’a illustrée pour ses amis André Balthazar, Eddy Devolder et pour des éditeurs (La Pierre d’Alun, le Daily-Bull,et tout récemment les Editions Esperluète...).
