À travers des pages d’une grande acuité, se pose aussi la question de l’art et du sacré. Albert DASNOY (1901-1992), correspondant de la Classe des Beaux-Arts (1967), membre en 1969, était peintre, critique d’art, conteur, philosophe. Il poursuivit, à travers tous ses travaux, le sens fondamental des démarches humaines et de la vie elle-même. Sous l’humus des idées reçues, il fut sans cesse à la recherche de la source profonde de ce qui apparaît au jour. Les éditions Le Cri ont entamé la réédition de son œuvre en 2000 par la publication de ses essais Le Prestige du passé et Les Dieux et les hommes. Un étudiant tchèque était affecté à la baraque numéro un dans un camp vidé de ses gardiens. Cette baraque était habitée par des morts-vivants, des déportés en provenance d’Allemagne. <br />Cet étudiant s’appelait Josef Stuna. En parcourant la liste des malades, il lut qu’un certain Robert Desnos, né en 1900 était présent. Or Josef Stuna connaissait la poésie française moderne, il savait qui étaient Breton, Eluard…et Desnos. Alors il s’est approché des 240 squelettes «encore vifs dont il avait la garde» et s’enquit à voix haute de la présence de Robert Desnos, poète français . Un homme s’est approché et lui a dit qu’il était Robert Desnos. <br /><br />Pierre Berger impose au lecteur une forte émotion dans cette scène qu’il qualifie d’inouïe. Robert Desnos était mourant mais soudain il n’était plus seul. Josef Stuna alla chercher une de ses consoeurs qui parlait bien le français : Alena Tesarova. Malgré tous leurs soins ils ne parvinrent pas à le sauver mais, écrit Pierre Berger, durant les trois jours qui précédèrent sa mort, « ils parlèrent de tout : de Paris, de la liberté, de la Fraternité, de la Poésie, des arbres, du vent, des océans ». <br /><br />Ce qui est terrible et beau aussi bien sûr, dans la disparition de l’auteur de « Love of the loveless nights », c’est qu’il s’est sacrifié pour préserver celle qu’il aimait d’une arrestation. Lui était entré dans la résistance parce qu’il « avait trop de choses à défendre » selon son préfacier. Et de citer comme motivations la Liberté avec un L majuscule, la rue Blomet et la rue Mazarine ses deux dernières adresses, les terrasses de Saint-Germain-des-Prés, les chats, les bouquinistes, soit des choses tout à fait essentielles. Il est arrêté en février 1944 et transféré en mars à Compiègne. Youki fit tant et tant qu’elle parvint à le faire ôter de la liste des « transports ». Mais il semble qu’un écrivain bien douteux ait contribué à le faire réinscrire sur une liste qui l’emmena vers Buchenwald au mois d’avril. <br /><br />Il paraît qu’il y a une polémique sur son dernier poème que Pierre Berger présente comme l’ultime, adressé à Youki. Sur la page Wikipédia de Desnos en revanche, évidemment de facture plus récente puisque susceptible d’être mise à jour en permanence, ce texte ne serait pas le dernier et pas forcément écrit à Youki. Peu importe au fond puisqu’il est si joli qu’on se l’approprie nous-mêmes pour l’adresser en pensée à celles ou ceux qui nous sont (où ont été) chers: Il paraît aussi mais cette fois cela semble évident, que Desnos, en plus d’être un poète inspiré était avec ses drôles de yeux cernés, un jeune homme fringant, gai, drôle, généreux, amateur de rumba et de jazz. Récemment, plusieurs expositions ont fait connaître l’œuvre de CHRISTIAN DOTREMONT, à l’occasion du 25ème anniversaire de son décès, en 1979. On croyait tout savoir sur « l’inventeur » de COBRA et des LOGOGRAMMES, après les récits biographiques qui lui ont été consacrés. Pour expliquer sa démarche artistique, il est cependant un aspect de sa vie semi-aventureuse qui n’a pas été suffisamment mis en valeur. Il s’agit de ses fréquents voyages dans les pays nordiques, où il allait se ressourcer. Omniprésentes dans ses écrits poétiques et sa correspondance, la glace et la neige sont les éléments qui lui permettent d’assouvir sa quête de l’absolu, son besoin instinctif de liberté. Pour Christian Dotremont, pas de différence entre la page blanche et l’immensité des étendues enneigées : il y inscrit ses textes, à l’écriture spontanée. Une recherche dans son œuvre a permis à Françoise Mortier, directeur artistique de la GPOA et commissaire de l’exposition, de recenser à ce jour une cinquantaine de logogrammes où apparaît le mot NEIGE, dont une vingtaine seront exposés à la GPOA. C’est au cours de son 10ème voyage lapon en 1976 qu’il trace des « LOGONEIGES » et « LOGOGLACES » photographiés par Caroline Ghyselen, qui l’accompagnait. Rarement montrés, ces travaux éphémères, édités à cette occasion par la GPOA en tirage de prestige limité, sont la preuve de la verve intarissable de ce poète de la langue et de l’écriture. L’exposition « Mémoire de neige - Christian Dotremont » constitue le plus bel hommage qui peut-être rendu à l’artiste, qui contre vents et maladies, a consacré sa vie à la recherche d’un style original. Quelques femmes, des rencontres aussi. Ce n'est pas voyager, voir, raconter. Pas besoin d'être loin, d'être frappé par des paysages ou des gestes inouïs, pour découvrir ces mouve­ments lents, infimes qui font et défont les vies, au plus profond. La longue course de Francis Dannemark paraît aux Editions du Castor Astral, rassemblant 25 ans de poèmes, d'aphorismes, de textes qui jalonnent l'existence de leur auteur. « Je me souviens parfois très bien d'un passé qui n'a pas existé. » C'est un peu cela, la rencontre avec une route de 25 ans de textes poétiques : des émotions, des images, des sentiments que l'on a éprouvés un jour, peut-être, des choses que l'on aurait pu vivre ou écrire, même si c'est dans la vie d'un autre qu'elles (n')ont (pas) existé. La longue course, c'est, en treize étapes de 1974 à l'an 2000, une anthologie : les textes ont été sélectionnés, certains ont été rema­niés. Les contacts entre des poèmes de la pre­mière heure et les derniers donnent, évidem­ment, d'autres couleurs à l'ensemble, conçu l'été 2000. Dommage que les photos et des­sins des premières éditions soient absents... Entre 1974 et 1976, Dannemark écrit Heu­res locales. Seghers les publie en 1977. L'au­teur a vingt-deux ans. Ce sont des poèmes, des vrais, dans la lignée de Michaux, d'Eluard, de Prévert. Avec un zeste de « road movie » et des citations toutes crues en anglais qui annoncent une autre ère. Déjà, Antarctique en 76-77, premier opus publié au Castor Astral, révèle d'autres rythmes. Toujours ces phrases anglaises qui flirtent avec notre langue et ouvrent la pers­pective, de petites citations nées d'un quoti­dien qui sortirait d'un film de Wenders. Et la petite musique d'un saxophone insistant. Clous de girafe (1974-1977) et Garden-Party (1979) nous la jouent plutôt à la Prévert, musique des mots, ironie des images. C'est la part fantasque de l'écriture « jeu de lan­gage » qui émaille plus ou moins la produc­tion de Dannemark selon les époques. Dans les années 90, les poèmes renouent avec les rythmes des années 70. Entre les deux, les textes se font plus denses, plus carrés. Somme toute, l'avantage d'une anthologie, c'est de laisser voir en quoi la manière du poète s'est frottée à l'époque, a subi les in­fluences de son temps et de son histoire ou bien les a rejetées. La longue course, c'est Alice dans les villes, pas Aguirre la colère de dieu. L'exotisme n'a pas la part belle ici. Pas de chevauchée sau­vage, pas de flamboiement des couleurs, mais la simplicité d'observation permise à chacun. « Les poètes et les marins pensent à des récits de voyage, mais ils se font ici, dans les avenues que la nuit des villes élar­git. ». Ou encore : « Pourquoi faudrait-il que je voyage ? Le mouvement m'intéresse plus que la distance et je peux très bien ex­pliquer le mot retour. » C'est curieux, à une époque où les théori­ciens rivalisaient pour faire taire la littéra­ture, Dannemark n'en a eu cure et a osé porter haut le flambeau de la poésie. Péri­mètres, textes écrits entre 1977 et 79, abor­de des thèmes qui ont marqué l'époque, l'importance des lieux urbains, de la vie in­térieure aussi. « Une phrase sur du papier : je vis à titre ex­périmental, et j'ai perdu les plans d'un autre territoire. » Les romans sont venus ensuite, ont croisé des publications de textes poétiques, plus confidentielles. Dix romans chez Robert Laffont et au Castor Astral, neuf livres de poèmes. Un conte, La traversée des grandes eaux, a paru chez Cadex. Les histoires que Dannemark raconte n'empêchent pas sa poésie d'exister. Les unes et les autres se font écho, paraît-il. Dannemark nous livre pas mal de textes poétiques inédits, écrits ces cinq dernières année. Comment peut-on être encore poète à l'époque glorieuse des fils de pub et du marketing triomphant ? Métamorphoser la langue, (se) jouer d'elle, faire étinceler mots et images pour qu'ils ré­vèlent l'autre au plus profond. Vraiment. L'échappée des mots offre à ceux qui le désirent des retrouvailles intimes inégalables, des confidences loin du superficiel et du tape-à-l'œil. Comment pourrait-on, sans poésie, survivre à cette époque ? [Réplique de Beni-Bouftout, dans le deuxième acte, p. 43] INITIALEMENT CONÇU POUR LE MUSIC-HALL, le Don Juan de Michel de Ghelderode a ensuite été réécrit pour le théâtre, tout en conservant son caractère spectaculaire : des masques, des bagarres fréquentes, des poursuites, des personnages truculents, une narration rythmée et vive, le tout sous la lumière des néons colorés. L’esprit de la pièce est celui de la parodie, sans conteste, à l’image du carnaval qui bat son plein à l’extérieur et dont revient Don Juan. Les masques sont donc de rigueur et légitiment les rôles que chacun s’attribue. Encore avez-vous l’avantage d’une légende toute cuite. Mais nous autres aussi, nous avions une légende, car n’est-ce pas humain de s’en forger une dès qu’on se retrouve devant la femme convoitée ? Et la femme se laisserait-elle convoiter hors des brouillards du mensonge ? [Réplique de Théodore, dans le premier acte, p. 21] L’idée du monde comme théâtre semble exploitée en filigrane autant que ridiculisée par les personnages qui tiennent si mal leur rôle. Don Juan, en particulier, ne semble pas à la hauteur de sa légende, bien qu’il séduise l’inaccessible dame des lieux (encore que « séduire » ne soit pas le terme le plus approprié et qu’on se demande qui prend qui dans cette histoire jouée hors scène). Faible, impuissant à se battre et à (se) tuer, pleurnichard, il est bien loin des représentations antérieures du personnage, parodiées par de Ghelderode dans le deuxième acte, lorsque les autres personnages décident de se prendre pour de nouveaux Don Juan à leur tour. Michel de Ghelderode semble illustrer avec sa pièce la fin d’un mythe et de la transcendance au XXe siècle, au profit d’une vie de représentation permanente, irrémédiablement solitaire par l’impossibilité d’une confession sincère. Mais en ce moment, personne ne te voit. Abandonne-toi à ta douleur particulière. Tu fais bien ; la flamme pitoyable ne dissipera pas l’énigmatique ténèbre, pas plus que mon commentaire n’explique le drame.
